I disagree you you on the “not offensive if you make someone laugh” comment. I’m sure many Neo Nazis have joked and laughed about killing Jews and that’s fucking abhorrent and hugely offensive.
“Cunt”, “nigger”, and many other words can be offensive, but it is all about context and intent. Calling your close mate “cunt” can be jovial and can even be seen as a term of endearment. Calling the bartender “cunt” because she cut you off for being an obnoxious pisshead is offensive, aggressive, and is only something a piece of shit would do.
When it comes to the word “nigger”, I don’t think anyone should be using it to refer to anyone else, friends or not. I do think we should be able to say the word when discussing its use in society, or discussing media where the word is used. Treating the word like Lord Voldemort is fucking stupid.
Sorry for the rant, but definitely wanted to make my views clear. I’m sure you’re probably on the same page as me, but definitely don’t want to be misconstrued as the premiere white supremacist podcast (unless those guys pay really well, then my morals are definitely up for sale).
